Photo resolution

Photo is best high-res (2Mb & up).

Start with good lighting

Photography is about lighting. Use outdoor lighting or good indoor lighting. Don’t use flash, it doesn’t give enough shape and shadow for a good drawing.

Bad Lighting:
with a Flash

Good Lighting:
indoor lighting

Better Lighting:
in complete shade

Great Lighting:
beside a window

The photo's background

Don’t worry about the background, I just draw what matters.

Composition

If you’re taking a new photo, experiment with a variety of shots, then send a few, one may work better as artwork.

Getting Ideas

Need ideas? Use Google Images and search for inspiration. Maybe your son plays baseball or your daughter takes riding lessons – use posing ideas from the internet! And you don’t need to get an action shot from a game, just pose your subject in your living room and pretend.

Portrait Ideas

If you need ideas on posing for a drawing, borrow from the pros. Type “SNL guest photos” in Google Images, Saturday Night Live photographers take fabulous guest photos, awesome inspiration for unique poses.

It's Easy

Email your photo and I send art ready to hang or frame! I want you to get artwork to cherish, so if you have any questions or just want to talk art, please call.
